Composite(white) restorations are what we use to restore teeth after removing a cavity. The main advantages of composites are its adaptability and strength. It is also the best and easiest material to polish and blend into natural tooth structure making them practically invisible. We can remove decay of most any size and restore the tooth to its original size, strength, and color with composites. There are some cavities that are too big for composites in which case crowns are considered.
Composites are also what we use to reshape or restore anterior (front) teeth following trauma or natural tooth-size discrepancies. This method is very conservative, requiring very little reduction, and offers a very pleasing esthetics. Composites come in varying shades and have a chameleon affect of taking on the shade of the existing tooth.
